Sant Joan de Déu University School of Nursing - Teaching Centre
The goal of the Sant Joan de Déu University School of Nursing and Teaching Centre is to provide comprehensive, professional, compassionate and ethical training to people who feel strongly about helping, curing and serving individuals and the community, whether healthy or ill, and who demonstrate the aptitude required to take on this challenging task.
These centres are inspired by the spirit and the work ethic of their namesake (John of God) and by the philosophy that he embraced, which can be summed up as followed:
- Be faithful to those who suffer and do everything possible to contribute to their recovery and comprehensive well-being.
- Defend the rights of people who are unwell and provide assistance attending to the needs of each person; to do this, offer the best and most appropriate technical services while striving to humanize them as much as possible.
- Treat the convictions and beliefs of the ill with the highest respect and help them to discover, from illness, the meaning of their lives.
- Be aware of your limitations, associate with other people – professionals and volunteers – to carry out his mission, and share with them his philosophy and his spirit to help anyone who is unwell.
